| This underrated movie caught my attention when my dad recommended it to me (and he and I criticize movies and judge them by the first five minutes of it.) It is a Psychological Thriller starring Daniel Creig, Naomi Watts and Rachael Weisz. Written by David Loucka, directed by Jim Sheridan, also produced by Cliff Jack Motion Pictures and Morgan Creek Productions. Synopsis [SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT VIEW UNLESS YOU HAVE EITHER SEEN THE MOVIE OR DON"T CARE TO SEE IT!]:- Spoiler:
So we start off with Will Aighton, a family man, in which they spend the first 30 minutes elaborating on this. From this slow bit, you can see that places like IMbD gave it bad ratings, but you need patience to see why I disagree on these kinds of movies. We see his house seem as if it’s haunted, you got emo kids in the basements performing satanic rituals, random stalkers, and a guy almost runs him over. It’s crazy. Anyways, he investigates the history of the house and ends up figuring out that he used to be in a Looney bin after a suspected crime of killing his family through this instant shock moment that was revealed from officials at the Looney bin. Instantly after his brain goes on a major reboot due to the shock, begins to seeing things, and re-lives the moments the day of the murders shortly after he remembers who killed his family. He starts seeing his neighbor/ wife's best friend (it seems like they would get together but they don’t, thank God for that cliché to be discarded) the killer comes back to the abandoned house and while Will’s in there, trying to accept the deaths of his family (this is where it gets f*cked up;) this other guy who hired the killer comes in and beats the crap out of him and throws him in the basement to try to light him, the neighbor and the whole house on fire. Alas, main characters cannot die and he wakes up, after being drugged up, and beats the sh*t out of the bastard and runs off out of the house while the guy is shooting at him. (Additional Note: the guy also shot the killer for some reason… the killer also took the gasoline the guy left and made the guy slip while he was running after Will.) Then the story shortly ends other facts that only good viewers notice and a lot of critics missed: when he is realizing he was a psychopath, he realizes he made up his alias off of his tag: W-1-L-L 8-10-10. His former name is actually Peter Worth. This is what the critics focus on (which is a damn shame) that he was a very successful Times editor and he quit to spend time with his family, which they found stupid and cliché…)
Why I like it: gives me a Hannibal Lector feel and its one of the few movies out there that develops its plot beautifully. Also this movie actually has very, very good acting. Funny how I'm watching this in Christmas season when the atmosphere is right outside of New York City and it so happens to be winter time, so it is snowing! Nice Christmas thriller for ya'll to watch here, so I give it an 8.5/10. That is Dream House in a nutshell. I hope you enjoyed this media review of mine and I'll keep em' coming! Til next time, nyo~! | |
