Details

In the interest of memory and art, I would like to ask you all a question. If you are new, old, here or absent, please take the 3.5 seconds to reply to this question.

"The Details".
What is the first thing you think of when you hear those words?

The Details.

Details to me is the subtext/fine print, the connotations, and the meanings behind something a bit broader.

In my mind: The details? Dafuq?

Almost all quite useful so far, and so far no jokes have been funny. I expect better.

If there's anything else it'd be quite useful.

When I hear those words, the first thing that comes to mind is Biology. We're supposed to study everything in details, and when that word shows up, it usually wants us to highlight how a certain process occurs. For instance, if it asked about Photosynthesis, it'd probably want the details about cyclic and non-cyclic reactions in addition to the Calvin's cycle.

"The Details"
When this is said I think of two things. Art and Drawn out sentences, but mostly art.

Art:
The Lighting/Shading on faces and characters.
When drawing an old lady/dude you put that extra wrinkle to make them look older.
That crazy and devious smile when drawing the pervert.
The crevices in the Grand Canyon.
The design on a Rose.
The blueprints on background buildings.

You're right, they all suck. Mine included; Thought of a crime scene because to investigate you need clues; details.

For some reason when I think on 'the details' initially as well as too hard on it, all I can think of is trying to figure out a mystery, like a murder mystery or a detective story. A conspiracy that needs to be figured out.
