The Fairy Type is Revealed. Thoughts?

With the confirmation of the Fairy type, we have the first Type Introduction to the series since Gen II, the Steel and Dark types. The Leaker has nailed this rumor on the head. It is confirmed that it is strong against Dragon types. We can now expect the Fairy to be weak to Poison and Steel, immune to Dragon, super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon take half damage from it.

In addition to Sylveon being a Fairy type, several older Pokemon have been retyped. Marill is now Water/Fairy, Gardevoir is Psychic/Fairy, and Jigglypuff is Normal/Fairy. We also got two new Fairy attacks, Moonblast and Fairy Wind.

What are your thoughts on the new Fairy Type? What Pokemon do you think will get retyped?

Seems fun. It could shake the metagame a little and introduce new stuff to the table. Gardevoir may end up getting some new stuff, but now that Fairy is weak to poison, there goes Gardevoir's halved damage intake from poison attacks (not that there are many which are reliant on base attack power to begin with). Change is usually good if its pros outweigh the cons. I like this new type introduction. Also, dragons now have another weakness, which will definitely affect the metagame for some dragon users significantly. I don't play Pokemon competitively, don't judge.

It's ok. May help get over annoying Pokemon like Kingdra. I kinda hope that it would get over the Dark/Ghost combination. Is it confirmed to be weak to poison and fighting? Oh well, Gardevior's Psychic Type can handle those.

I highly doubt that. Weavile already has good typing.

Weavile needs more love. Give him a better STAB than Ice Punch already.

I'm personally against Whimscott being Fairy. I loved how he was one of the few pokemon to use a stab Hurricane with already such a niche moveset and abilities.

Also, rumors of Fairy > Dark makes Hydreigon a paranoid pseudo-legendary.

Weavile's typing is fine. I see no reason why they'd change it to Fairy.

if fairy>dark wouldn't that make hydreigon 4x weak to fairy? or does fairy only resists dragon?

Nothing is confirmed about Fairy except that it's super effective against Dragon.
