- A few weeks ago Nintendo announced Pokémon X, and all across the world children are gleefully searching for more info, only to meet with a terrible fate. It has been discovered that typing "Pokémon X Videos" into Google reveals some pretty raunchy material definitely not intended for children, or anyone for that matter.
Personally, I'm wondering why scores of children are ignoring poor old Pokémon Y, but there you have it. The incident is apparently widespread enough that it has caught the attention of the NSPCC, a children's charity dedicated to eradicating abuse.
To quote a spokesman: "This highlights how the internet can be a Wild West, sometimes leading to children being exposed to totally unsuitable material." He added "This is a growing problem which needs to be tackled so children do not stumble across porn sites.”
On the face of it, it looks like Nintendo done goofed; hardcore poképorn is now invading our children's homes, forever ruining their innocence and tainting their souls.
However, new evidence suggests that this kerfuffle is all a little more avoidable than it looks. Pretty much any level of parental guidance features, including Google SafeSearch, eliminates these naughty outcomes in favour of more wholesome webpages. So if your kids are stumbling across Pikachu doing unspeakable things to a ketchup bottle, it's time to look Dad square in his trembling, guilty eyes and ask why the search engine is so good at finding rude things.
Whatever the state of play, there is evidence to suggest light at the end of the tunnel. Even on the search engine of the horniest buggers out there, searching for the anime "Sonic X" yields pages upon pages of legitimate results, so it's likely that once more actual Pokémon X content is released, your children shall be safe once more.
It all adds legitimacy to the definition of Rule 34. Nintendo trolled the NSPCC so bad, they're bound to lose their marbles anytime soon. Poor Pokemon Y, nobody looks up its videos. Apparently, looking up Pokemon X Videos now leads to news websites more often than to those nasty porn websites. I wonder how 4kids will deal with this as soon as parents start complaining to them about Pikachu doing indecent stuff to the ketchup bottle. | |
