What is "Ultimate Otaku"? Empty
PostSubject: What is "Ultimate Otaku"?   What is "Ultimate Otaku"? EmptySun Aug 11, 2013 8:08 pm

So we have this Anime Competition area, but will be going on here and what is Ultimate Otaku?

Simply put, Ultimate Otaku is both a place to discuss anime, manga and things related to what would be considered an "Otaku" hobby, but will also be a place to show what you're a fan of, compete in small events, and most of all aim for Ultimate Otaku!

Ultimate Otaku is a general event that is a month long season, and will be encompassing many, many smaller events. By taking part in events you'll earn yourself Otaku Points. This is not a new form of currency and is not spendable. When a Ultimate Otaku season is over, Otaku Points will be tallied up and someone will be crowned Ultimate Otaku! Your name will be placed in the hall of fame for your winning seasons as well as many new achievements will be coming to earn for winning, or even just participating.

Events can vary greatly, and there will be something for everyone! Every month a calendar of general events will be planned, with changes as feedback sees fit. Live events in the chat and in this section, as well as occasionally unplanned events (with a little heads up time to check it out) can and most likely will happen as well. We'll open every season with a new discussion for improving Ultimate Otaku as well as event ideas, as well as a month long suggestions and vote on what the anime of next month should be. Anime of the month is simply something that proves to be popular and a majority of people agree should be the "mascot" if you will for the next season of Ultimate Otaku. The anime of the month will influence the theme of a couple of events as well as grant double points to those who write a review for it, which is gone into detail below. Don't worry if an anime you're unfamiliar with or not a fan of gets voted into the anime of the month though. Anyone who likes to write guides has a month to write why they like (or dislike) it, or if you just flat don't want to watch it, it'll only influence the theme on a small handful of events, far from all of them.

Outside of things going on with Ultimate Otaku, if you happen to be writing a review for an anime that's 1000 words or more (within the actual review) and admin or section mod deems it good quality and not random chatter (we won't be biased; reviews on art will always be opinionated) we'll give you 2 Otaku Points towards the current month and 1 for every review after that in the same season. Do it on the anime of the month and we'll double that. You can do the same thing with a group for 3 Otaku Points per person, (and 2 for every review after that in the same season) so long as the review contains 1000 words per person. Who wrote what does not need to be outlined or specified, this means that if Jon, Mary and Bob wrote a review, so long as it's 3000 words it does not matter how it was written. Again, if it's on the anime of the month we'll double that. For now we'll assume people don't have time to stay up and around forever to write quality reviews so there's no limits on repeating this. This is subject to change, and everyone will be informed in this topic if it does. Please post reviews in the "Anime" section, outside of the comps area as you may have normally done in the past and if someone doesn't see it, request to get points for it and someone will look at it.

However, writing is not linear and we'd like to make exceptional exceptions for extremely well-written or lengthy writings. Exceptions may be made, and as we test ride this, changes to the requirements may be made to be more flexible for everyone. This does not mean you cannot write short reviews or discussions in the anime section for any reason and you are still free to do so, but the requirements need to be fulfilled to count towards Otaku Points.

If there are any questions or things that are unclear, please post here so we can have an organized FAQ for Ultimate Otaku.
