Fifteen years later, fourteen-year-old Shinji Ikari finds himself summoned to the fortress city of Tokyo-3 by his estranged father, Gendo, for a single purpose: to pilot a Humongous Mecha called an Evangelion and battle physics-defying beings known as Angels, which threaten to destroy what remains of humanity (though the show does not explain exactly how they plan to do so, and for what reason, until much later).

Why do you think Shinji tried to strangle Asuka at the end of EoE?

Well, the anime was made as the director(Hideaki Anno) was going through therapy. The later half was basically him becoming more insane.

Plus Evangelion wouldn't be quite Evangelion-like without the mental stuff.

so does anyone know when 3.0 is coming out for dvd?

3.0 DVD comes out in late April for Japan. Subs will then hopefully be out before May...

So, now that the DVD for 3.0 is out, the subs are out, chatbox broke on me, and Ali seems to have seen it, what are your reactions to 3.0? Put spoilers in spoilers, because pretty sure not everyone saw the (absolutely shitty) camrip or the actual thing.

it's a meh set up movie for 4.0
not really that good, decent but could've been better

Well, if nothing else, 3.0 looks absolutely gorgeous in HD, especially if you have a PS3 and a big screen.

Let's see...Misato gives me a Kamina-ish vibe at the beginning, Asuka is still the tsundere, Mari is as weird as ever, Shinji is gay for Kaworu as usual as well. Overall I liked it. Only question is, will the preview for 4.0 shown in the movie actually happen? Or will Anno pull an Anno on us again?

Totally calling it, 4.0's full name is This Is (Not) The End
