The video also goes into some details about the game mechanics. There's a 3D roam mode, and then a 2D fight mode, that reminds me of a Tales game. It's a Tekken game so this makes perfect sense, but since I haven't played Tekken, Tales comes to mind.

This looks fun as fuck. Really want to play it.

After having played this game in an arcade once or twice...

Honestly it's kinda mediocre. Played Braixen and then Lucario. If I had a copy to sit down and mess around with for a few hours I'm sure I can get a decent feel for it but from what I have played it's not wow-ing me. Maybe I'm just not that compatible with 3D fighters.

But yeah, that was underwhelming. Haven't played it myself but the hype pretty much died after I saw the gameplay.

I don't know what you guys are on about. This game is SO FUN and definitely doesn't take FOREVER to get through Top 8! :D

But yeah, they had decent hype going but its mechanics aren't too appealing.

If they wanted a srs pokemon fighter they should just emulate smash but with more pikachu and down b. that'd work brilliantly.

I don't get why people complain about down-b, even on casual level it should be so easy to punish. It's only a real move when you try to kill people off the top.
But yeah, pokken is meh, breaking the game into two phases may seem like a solution, but it's the lazy solution, you just gave up on intuitive design. Looks really pretty tho!
