River stood at the end of the field, with her Poke Ball clenched tightly in her hand. Her gaze on the other end of the field, Flora stood confidently with her arms crossed. In front of Flora was her powerful Venusaur, tentacles waving in the air menacingly. With the special ability Chlorophyll, Venusaur's speed increases dramatically.
Raising her arm, River tossed her final Poke Ball. "Go, Blastoise!" she called out as the ball burst open, Blastoise materializing on the gym floor. It's cannons ejecting from it's shell, Blastoise pounded it's fists, ready for battle.
"You're not going to win, River!" said Flora as she pointed at Blastoise. "Venusaur, let's make this quick! Use Power Whip!" she commanded.
Following orders, Venusaur extended it's thick, powerful vines and launched an attack against the Blastoise.
"Blastoise, use Protect!" ordered River as a counter, knowing that Blastoise couldn't handle a powerful attack from a Power Whip.
Withdrawing into it's shell, Venusaur wrapped it's vines around Blastoise and lifted it high into the air, despite it's weight of roughly two hundred pounds. Venusaur slammed Blastoise into the flooring, lifting it up immediately and repeating the attack. After the third lift, Venusaur dropped the Blastoise, which landed in the small crater that it's shell made.
"Blastoise!" yelled River in worry as Blastoise moved out of it's shell, getting back to it's feet. While it's shell bore battle wounds, Blastoise seemed relatively healthy.
"Hang in there, Blastoise! Use Flash Cannon!"
"Flash Cannon?" said Flora unexpectedly as Blastoise's cannons aimed at Venusaur. It quickly charged the attack and shot a powerful light ball at the Venusaur, speeding at it like a bullet. "Venusuar! Counter with Power Whip!"
Using it's powerful vine, it used it's left vine to strike the attack in mid-air. A small explosion erupted in mid air. Venusaur quickly brought it's vine closer, which bled furiously from the attack.
"No, Venusaur!" shrieked Flora as she ran over to Venusaur and examined the damaged vine. "You're hurt..." she said worriedly.
"Now's our chance!" said River as she extended her arm. "Blastoise, use another Flash Cannon!"
Flora glared at River and gave Venusaur an order. "Venusaur, Power Whip Blastoise's legs!"
Extending it's healthy vine, Venusaur swept low at Blastoise's ankles as it charged for it's attack. Making contact, Blastoise fell over on it's side, misfiring it's Flash Cannon attack. The ball of light barely missed Flora and blew up the wall behind her.
Falling to her knees from the debris, Flora cuddled close to Venusaur to shield herself from the falling rubble. "That was close," said Flora as she held Venusaur closely, petting it's side. Standing up, Flora walked backward and gave Venusaur another order. "Use another Power Whip!"
"Blastoise, use Flash Cannon!"
Wrapping it's vine around Blastoise, Venusaur lifted the Pokemon high into the air. As Blastoise was lifted, it charged another Flash Cannon attack and took aim at Venusaur and shot. Unable to block the Flash Cannon attack, the attack hit it's mark, causing an explosion around it. Dropping Blastoise, Blastoise fell roughly twenty feet from the air and landed hard on the ground.
"Venusaur!" called out Flora.
"Blastoise, hang in there!" yelled River.
As the debris cleared, Venusaur laid on it's stomach, covered in scratches and bruises, bleeding from it's cuts and knocked out from the attack. Blastoise fared no better. As it tried to regain it's footing, Blastoise fell over onto it's stomach. Both Pokemon unable to battle.
"Huh, so it's a draw," said Blaze as a hand tapped him on his shoulder. "Huh?"
Erika stood behind Blaze with a smile on her face. Though her cheeks were red from illness, she looked happy.
"That was a great battle," said Erika as she sneezed into the kimono and approached Flora and River as they returned their Pokemon.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" asked Flora as Erika approached her.
"To award the victor the Rainbow Badge," said Erika as she reached into her belt and took out two Rainbow Badges. "However, since this was a draw, I've decided to give you both a badge," said Erika happily.
"What, for real?" asked River as she walked over to Flora and her mother.
Erika nodded as she handed the girls their new badges. "You both fought bravely, and you both deserve this badge." said Erika.
"Thank you, mom..." said Flora shyly as she accepted the badge.
"Thanks!" said River happily as she took the badge.
"Congrats," said Blaze as he approached them, but the sound of clapping interrupted the celebrations.
They looked around for the source of the clapping, turning their heads at the Gym entrance. Standing at the entrance, J slowly started walking towards them, his Legendary Beasts walking behind him.
"Congratulations on a well fought battle," said J as he continued clapping. "Now, you know why I am here. Give me those files!" declared J as his Legendary Beasts roared menacingly.
